• The back: on a handmade carpet the pattern is clearly visible from behind, almost like the front, and the knots aren't perfectly uniform.
• The fringe: it's part of the carpet's own threads, not sewn on.
• Small variations: slight differences in pattern or color from one end to the other are a sign of handwork.
